Stanley Stowe

I live in Escalante, Utah. Though I was born in SLC, my parents lived in Escalante, but while in SLC my mother went into labor. I was born there, but I consider myself as “born and raised in Escalante.”

I am the middle of three boys. My parents have very deep roots in Escalante. My ancestors played a part in settling the town very early on.

I attended school in Escalante all the way from kindergarten through to graduation. I graduated and went to 1 year of college at SUU in Cedar City. I served an LDS mission in Ireland. I married Marlene Griffin and will be celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary this year. We have 3 children, 16 grandchildren and a dozen or so great grandchildren and still counting.

I have had many jobs in my life. I have worked on drilling rigs, sawmills, EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate, EMT Instructor and a CPR Instructor, as well as a squad leader for 6 years. I was designated as Garfield County Ambulance, “EMT of the year” in 1994 and 1996. I was also selected as Escalante squad member of the year in 1996. I served the Garfield County Ambulance for 15 years.

I have been in public service as an EMT, city council, planning and zoning, and as chairman of the Board of Adjustments. I have served Escalante city one way or another from 1986 to present times as I am still serving on the Board of Adjustments.
